With the rapid development of mobile devices, specifically smart phones, the market to develop applications in conjunctions with these devices has busted wide open.  While iPhone came out of the gate strong by offering a small group of applications, they quickly opened their doors to all developers to develop a vast array of apps.  Apple has recently reached their 1 billionth application download, over 133,979 applications.
